it's incredible how boring they managed to make Soulless Diamond and Boring Pearl's marketing campaign. I guess you really don't have to do much when you're selling entirely on nostalgia. Seriously, not a single surprise. Nothing to react too and it will still outsell Legends Arceus hand over fist

Why do people think BDSP will outsell PLA? PLA is the "open world Pokemon" (I know it's not actually open world) people have begged for for years, and time and again Pokemon fans have shown they don't care about graphics. From the consoomer perspective it's everything they've ever wanted, while BDSP is just DiaPer but again.

It's almost like they don't have to market it because anyone who liked Gen IV has shit enough taste to just scoop this garbage up Day 1 anyway.

most people gravitate to the familiar 8 gym elite 4 simple format in their pokemon games regardless of what they say they want. PLA will sell well but based on its trailers the game does look kind of barren and now its starting to look handholdy too with the wardens and closed off areas.

It will sell well, but if you think they have any expectations in this beyond giving them more experience doing what they'd started with the wild areas in base SS+DLC and getting rid of the reliance of fixed-camera views/routes, you're drooling, especially when they waved a big red flag about keeping Legends free from getting muddled up in whatever they have planned for Pokémon day.
Anon thought the GO-clone would sell less than 10m (and some thought it would sell less again), it ended up outselling the last Kanto remake.
