I think the only thing it actually has over the original is some extra online features..? Are the Underground and Contests confirmed to be online? Otherwise everything "new" in BDSP still doesn't make up for the stuff that's missing when compared to Platinum.

I'll buy the remaster because I love Pokemon. When it comes down to it, there really is no justification to buy this over Platinum. It's literally D/P but on a Switch.

If it had gen 5-8 Pokemon and you could transfer from SwSh, maybe, yeah, this could be enjoyable, but it doesn't look like anything of that nature would be possible. I believe that's a real shame.
Also, a few Platinum elements added to the game couldn't have hurt - the snow and other changes. I don't understand why not add those features. I liked Pearl, but Platinum was way better.

It's the same thing. The only difference is that the zoomer split allows you to always use stab moves, effectively babifying the game.

Play DPPT if you want a better understanding on the original games. Play them to form an opinion on them. Play them to appreciate BDSP more, or maybe to hate them more. Or if you don't really care about all that noise, skip directly to BDSP for the newer experience with more QoL updates.

Listen, I play Pokemon to live out a Pokemon adventure like in the anime or manga. Sure, I try to catch them all, but I don't play it to train every Pokemon I catch in the main story. The EXP share forces me to try out other Pokemon or otherwise skip battles I wouldn't otherwise. Having it be optional but emphasizing you should keep it on and making it on by default won't make you feel like you need to turn it off to impress yourself/tryhards, but you can.

I do agree about no HMs though, it's the main reason to consider it if you don't care about 60$
