The Sinnoh lake caves aren't tiny sweaty, and they also have unique puddle patterns to differentiate them. Much more effort than in XY where you have actually tiny caves for legends not even from the game, and the legends of the game itself don't even get that

All Barry does is tell you that you can climb on that kind of rock (and they are everywhere in the map), as any shitty tutorial for HMs / overworld interactions on any previous Pokemon game.

Zero reason to assume that those specific rocks would lead to a hidden forest entrance and then to a hidden cave in a lake. I never try the tutorial examples in any game and Sinnoh wasn't the exception.

He notes at the very beginning of the game that the lake closest to your hometown has a legendary in it. Later on, you find out Team Plasma is after the Lake pokemon and Rowan stresses the importance of getting to the lakes.

I just use online maps anyway.
The battles should be difficult but the navigation (especially from one city to another) should be relatively easy.
However, instead of turning everything into a straight corridor, they should've just added a mini-map function.
That was one of the few things I liked about Alola.
