PBR is pretty eh. Some of the animations are good, but most of them are genuinely terrible and soulless. But the game has a great fucking soundtrack, it's got one of my favorite Pokémon sounds tracks ever actually. The composer did a great job, other than that no. You just think old good new bad like every retard on this board.

PBR doesn’t have a story mode, kind of hard to compare it to a game with story. Easier to program just battles. Not that it excuses BDSP’s graphics, but there’s no way PBR would’ve had the graphics it had in a story mode at the time it was made.

It was so bare bones, especially compared to Stadium and Colosseum. Stadium had fun little mini-games and Colosseum had a story, when PBR just has battling.

And they still used old n64 models for gen 1 and 2. Like, it's so jarring seeing a 2 polygon Venusaur going up against a very nice looking high polycount Infernape. I really don't get what people see in PBR.

I liked to use it for online battling just as a novelty to see my mons in full 3D. But yeah it was a huge disappointment compared to the Stadium and Colosseum series. I really wish GS got to make another story based game before GF sentenced them to making crappy puzzle games for eternity.

Because the art assets are perfectly authored for the performance profile of the machine it was running on.
This is why older games look so much more coherent and why new games LOOK LIKE FUCKING SHIT because it's just a random spread of assets of all kinds of differing qualities.
