>>48563634I would say most of the routes are pretty accurate for the area but they more resemble places that would be slightly further out from the map, like the north sort of gives an upstate NY vibe to it, BW's early routes as Long Island and BW2's early areas as NJ, especially Virbank, Driftveil almost being similar to St. Louis in a way especially with Clay, and the area to the west of it being a combination of the Midwest, Rockies, and Pennsylvania. BW2 also had Lentimas and Reversal Mountain that both scream New Mexico.
They intended it to be many different themes in one, hence the name, and while I would love for them to do more mainland US regions I doubt they would do that because I think in their nippon minds Unova already covers it all.
>>48563702Exactly this, prior to XY the regions themselves weren't fleshed out that much for the culture and region it was based on. They wanted to be in your face about it with XY because Masuda really loved France, but by doing that they kind of committed to it for the future.
If they remake Unova, I hope they truly "remake" it and not just do BW all over again while ignoring BW2 aside from a few dialogue lines and maybe a random update or outfit like they're doing for Platinum in BDSP. Like I'm talking a full reimagination of the region to turn it into a true urban region without removing the areas that were actually intended to be wild.
