RS absolutely revolutionized the stat and battle mechanics and made them way better. Then gen 4 made everything better still by splitting physical and special instead of just having it be by type, which made pokes like Gyarados kinda suck up to this point. But yeah, it felt really weird playing RS after Crystal which was great in its own way.
