>>48568524well, i would dispute that. perhaps the favorable nature and bonus from EVs are more beneficial than just levelling up any mon, the ceiling on the difficulty at more advanced stages of the game demand an enormous amounts from your pokemon. this combined with the overall limited selection of mons (not complaining the dex is great just stating a fact) means that winning low level strategies become very limiting at higher level curves. an example, my dratini, mareep, and bellsprout, geodude, zubat, growlithe team (with machop, onix to swap in as well) clair absolutely blew me back. my team was 29-30. would grinding up four levels have given me the win? most likely not, given the available moves of my pokemon, their stat levels, and the dragonairs' shed skin ability, it was nearly impossible (without insane confuse ray/miss hacks). raising up a higher speed gastly (to curse one dragonair) and a raticate with higher speed to scary face the other, i should be able to whittle them down with my other mons, or just hypnosis/cofuse ray/curse them to death with gastly. I think going about it the way i am doesn "negate the challenge" because the nature of the challenge is essentially using the right combination of mons with the right combination of moves (since higher level opponents can easily one shot your mons, so abilities like static +revenge sweeping become needed strategies) so in essence, due to the high difficulty of the run itself already, no i dont think this technique takes away from it. winning by using scary face +confuse ray + leer + bite etc is skill nothing else. most players dont even have the patience to do a fraction of what i demand of myself in a run.
