I didn't own a 3ds during its lifetime at all in fact. I didn't even buy Black and white, I didn't like the look of them from the get-go and I still don't like them after playing both Black 1 and Black 2.
But BDSP fixes my very few issues with DPPT (Pokemon distribution, gameplay speed, need to grind before every major boss unless you want to have your team 5-10 levels behind the NPC boss teams) while adding things I didn't even know I wanted (Following pokemon, HMs being a poketch app, the Grand Underground) and removing nothing I care about (Distortion world was a pain to navigate until the puzzle which flips over to piss easy, I have never once played the Battle Frontier in any game and never intend to because comp pokemon is a cancer on the franchise, I never bothered with contests). Any other "major" complaints /vp/ makes about it are nitpicks in my eyes compared to the fact BDSP look to have fixed gen 4.
You don't like how BDSP look? Fine, don't get it. But I'm going to get Shining Pearl, I'm going to have fun, and I'm going to finally play what might be the last good pokemon game if PLA is the direction the mainline games are going to take from now on.
