>>48581060>Like Poker, playing Pokemon well is all about understanding probability and just maximizing your odds1. You’re thinking of Blackjack
2. Unlike Poker, Pokemon NEVER tells you when RNG will trigger and you have fuck all to deal with it.
The only way to “play around” random crits is to bring a Pokemon with a rare ability and probably shit stats or use this rare move that temporarily stops crits. You can’t just sack a weakened Pokemon either, since there is no indication of a critical hit coming.
In Poker, if you get a bad hand, you can fold or try bluffing. If you get a good hand, your opponents can fold or have smaller bets. It’s also critical in Poker that luck occurs BEFORE you can make a decision.
If there was any indication of Freeze, Crits, Misses, ect before you make your moves, then RNG might be acceptable.
Still, things like Confusion and Paralysis are pretty bad mechanics anyways.
