>>48592179It is indeed bad because of that, but also because it's barely believable as a creature that has to survive within an ecosystem. The fins really serve no purpose other than because someone was determined to make a land shark, which would be forgivable on its own, but then it's got spikes on it in the least useful places and it has a single near-useless claw on each forelimb, with fins that would actively hinder its ability to slash, yet It's supposed to be an apex predator. It's a mess.
Of course, I don't expect peak realism from my monster taming fantasy world franchise, but it's really a step too far, especially when you factor in the plane shit. Maybe it'd have worked better in the early days when Pokémon were thought to be supernatural beings instead of more mundane creatures who happen to be powerful, and when designs were typically depicted with more definition, but as it stands, Garchomp really looks like it was made to sell cheap plastic toys to kids and the thought process ended there.
