Just play the game dude, who cares if one pokemon is a bit stronger than the other?
I swear if you're ever complaining about things like the level curve in a pokemon game then you're doing something wrong. Even if you have to grind, the VS Seeker is right there.
And put Boltbeam on your Porygon Z. Grind money with the rich people on Route 212 and buy the TMs from the Game Corner. You also have three bulky pokemon, what are you even losing to?

No one is disputing that over-levelling your starter is an extremely efficient, possibly the most efficient, way to beat the E4. It's just unimaginative and boring, while raising multiple mons is a lot more fun. Also, you'll need to raise more than one mon for postgame activities anyway, so unless you're doing a speedrun, it makes sense to raise more mons during the playthrough so you have less grinding to do later.

A normal person would use it once or twice, realize it made the game less enjoyable for them, and stop. Only a deranged individual would keep using it and then complain about it afterwards. It's mind-boggling. It's not something like the new exp-share, that you have to jump through several hoops to avoid using.
