The only way to get a Magmarizer and Electrizer prior to the release of Platinum was to have FireRed and LeafGreen inserted into the DS's GBA slot in order to have a chance at catching a Magby or Elekid holding one of the items in DP. Keep in mind that you couldn't transfer Pokemon from the GBC games to the GBA games and therefore the most cost effective way to complete the Dex in Gen III was to buy FOUR separate games (Emerald, Leaf Green, XD, and Colosseum). If you wanted to complete the Dex in Gen IV after DP released you now needed to buy yet another game which was formerly optional in order to obtain an Electirizer and then touch trade with a friend to complete the Pokedex in DP. What bullshit.
