A bit repetitive, actually, but other than that cute kids and surprisingly elaborate fight scenes with the Rockets were a pleasant surprise. Forever a lingering question of what it was for; was it a test for non-Ash stories? For TV Specials? Heck, Johto had two of them.

I guess we’ll never know if it was a test or not. Still, it was nice seeing another group for a change. Ash is kind of cemented as the anime’s only permanent main character at this point, it would have been easier to change him out earlier on.

Man the dub was horribly butchered. They cut so much shit just to fit an allotted time. Outside of that, the special was okay at best. Wish we seen more of Jimmy Pokemon outside of Ty, and fucking Beddril.
