>>48603686>"sAtUrAtIoN aNd DeTaIl gOoD"Speaking from experience, the grass of the top image is *never* done well, having the popped-up textures stand out considerably from the ground texture makes it very obvious what tricks they're pulling and breaks the cohesion. And with the pop-up textures all having a seemingly *completely identical* facing it looks like they'd have been rotating, making for a pile of *shit*. I'll take everything being made of blush over jagged edges everywhere, Pokemon does not have anywhere near enough man-hours thrown at it for the size of property it is.
>>48604561All graphics become shit at distance without post-processing, using depth of field instead of anti-aliasing is just a design choice. One that fits the insanely threadbare team doing everything they can get away with to minimize the workload so that it looks *passable* despite having less man-hours than some shovelware. Game Freak has far too little staff for their scope, they did not engage in mass hiring in preparation for the Switch titles, and have thus been stuck with ridiculous workarounds like hiding the low polygon count under desaturation and depth of field.
And isn't BDSP outsourced? So the people doing the graphical design for it have fuck-all input from Game Freak's graphics team to keep their stylistic shit in line with SwSh's stylistic shit?
