I always liked how each generation had a style to it. Gen 1 was myths and Monsters, Gen 2 was a bit more cozy traditional with more realistic animals, Gen 3 is meant to be water and coastal centered, considering Hoenn was once covered in water. Gen 4 is meant to be more sleepy and classical, with the pokemon becoming a bit sluggish, but aesthetically cute (Gastrodon, Drifblim..) Gen 5 is more urban and therefore the pokemon are more intelligent, Leavanny can sew clothing out of leaves and the much hated Klingklang brought the question of “Does the modern world have an impact on pokemon?” Which I enjoyed. Gen 6 is still urban but obviously French classical. Spritzee is a perfume pokemon with a plague doctor mask, Furfrou are like French poodles, shaved up in pretty styles. Gen 7 is (obviously) tropical, and brought regional variants to the table (which I loved) and Gen 8 took a bit of a loop back into myths and monsters (Impidimp) and Brit culture (there’s literally a teacup pokemon). I wonder what’s next? Pic related, maybe multiple regional variants in one game could be possible.
