Most likely, they're going to be as much of a hypocrite as they were when they gave Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated shit for not changing much (Which I do agree with though not enough to say it'd be a 2/10)

if it had the useless national dex it would have gotten 8.5+ user score like every other pokemon game. Notice how ORAS didn't even get review bombed even though leaving out the BF is an even more substantial content cut than the national dex is.

No, it really, REALLY wasn't.
At least ORAS looked nice, especially complimenting XY.
We had to get mods to get to the same graphical fidelity as even LGPE, the story was absolutely abysmal(a complain common on XY and US/UM) and the dexcut was the icing on the cake. If they had actually taken the time to make the game look good like they promised, there would be no "review bombing".

It might be due to the image itself being compressed but I don't see how the mod is much better than Vanilla here? The grass seems slightly more blurred together and the tree seems to have a different texture that looks a bit sharper than Vanilla. What am I missing?

It's the image compression, for some reason about a month after I downloaded that image it got converted from a PNG to an unreadable format, and that's what I recovered. Seems like it got JPG'd. I could try to find the original again if you'd like.

Well, I can tell you what I remember off of the top of my head;there are much sharper shadows(I'm sucker for those), and generally more detailed textures. I haven't watched the video again since its released, so I'm probably missing quite a bit. I can't watch it anyways, busy in another thread.

Gotcha, giving it a watch right now. So far, I can commend the modding effort, but will say I prefer Vanilla's slightly more faded color palette personally, at least when it comes to the dirt roads. Might just be due to the fact that's how they look around where I live myself. The textures themselves are definitely sharper (I specially like the ones used on natural rock walls) but I think I'm a bigger fan of Vanilla's color palette. I do think the Vanilla textures for those 2 big rocks at 3:43 look a bit better, I prefer the slight moss they have compared to Mod textures. Props to the mod team either way, I've only ever messed with 2D games so I can commend the effort put into this pack.

I enjoy the textures, but I do admit the textures themselves might be a tinge too saturated. It probably would've been "perfect" if it was only a slightly darker color palette to the vanilla one.

Totally, a middle point betwen Vanilla's color palette and Modded's actual textures would be ideal.

Forgot to mention it in the previous post but it's clever they gave different options for the meme tree, I like that.

Honestly, I finally figured out why I liked the saturated colors but agree that it doesn't fit Galar.
It's because of the climate of Washington(my home state), which had a pretty dark color palette in the western portion I lived in. The thing is, I don't remember the climate of Washington being anywhere close to Britain's, so the color palette doesn't make sense for Galar.

It's definitely interesting to think about why someone may prefer different color palettes to others beyond just the game's own visual design.
The place where I live is semi-desertic so buildings and other things tend to get covered in thin dust, making stuff look a bit more faded than it actually is. Dirt roads here have that beige/peach tone the ones in SwSh Vanilla have, so that's what feels more "natural" for me to see in those environments, specially the more rural areas.

Yeah, it's interesting to know these things.
On a side note, I really hope that Gamefreak one day makes a GOOD region out of the cold rainforest that is Washington. It even has a desert on the other side of the mountains, which could be how the region gets its diversity. (Picture was taken close to my old hometown in Washington.)

That's honestly one of the coolest things I feel Unova brought to the table: Regions based on other locations beyond just Japan. There's a ton of potential there for source material to reference in future games. Think what you will about each of them, but I believe Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar capture the locations they're based on relatively well. If anything, I'm excited to see what place the next gen takes inspiration from. A Mediterranean setting could be interesting for example, or maybe something from South America. There's no shortage of places to take inspiration from, and I'd like to see how they take the next "local tradition" and adapt it to the Pokémon world (like the Trials in SM/USUM, or the way the Pokémon League is handled as if it were Football in Galar)
