There's no inherent reason that Pokemon has to stick with that sort of release schedule. I'm sure the fans are patient enough to permit an extra 1-2 years of development if it means the final product is better. With all the replay-value that Pokemon games have it wouldn't be a problem at all.
If GF wants to put out a new Pokemon game every 2 years because of their own corporate greed, that's fine. It just becomes their problem to squeeze 4+ years of development out of 2 years. "W-we don't have the time, though!" isn't a valid excuse when you could easily renegotiate a more favorable development/release cycle. Them wanting to get rich instead isn't an excuse.
That's like being a driver and cutting costs by buying 3 tires instead of 4. When your car performs like shit, you can't go "b-but I only had 3 wheels, ain't my fault!" when the situation is ENTIRELY a consequence of YOUR greed and YOUR doing.
