I'm mad, I'm fucking mad. This could actually have been a really good game, this could have redeemed the 3D saga. They cancelled it so late in development that they literally couldn't remove the Zygarde storyline from the anime anymore, and they had to awkardly include Zygarde in Alola, which makes absolutely no sense.

A swsh early build showed two different names for unreleased versions of x and y with just an added z at the end of them. Nothing about the two games themselves are known other than being cancelled

>Well you're blaming it on SM as if it was the game that prevented Z version even though that's impossible. We know GF starts production on the next gen after the release of the first game of the current gen, like how SWSH started when SM released. So SM was very much in production not long after XY released and not just something they came up with very late and rushed. They could've always skipped the remakes that gen if they really cared about Kalos but well we know how it all went

And what do you base this on? There is nothing that indicates it's development cycle was any bit more rushed or troubled than the development cycle of any other Pokémon game.

Of maybe they ""cancelled"" Z (which is debatable to begin with since we don't even know if it really even existed at all) because they decided to do ORAS? We know for a fact that SM were in development from late 2013, and any hypothetical Z would only be pitched after that (unless they were planning to release the third version before the release of XY it self). SM were very much planned to be the 20th anniversary games from the beginning. So even if a Z supposedly existed, it very likely didn't make it very far and was scrapped early on because they also had to focus on the RSE remakes that fans were asking for.

And ironically enough Alola didn't even need to take time out of XY's development. In XY they were unprepared to shift to the 3ds and abandoned ship to focus on SM. Then they decide to go one step further and make USUM. Then they realized they needed to make a Switch game and repeat the whole "we were unprepared to make a larger scale game" only to now shove DLC as a means to give those games any sort of substance. And to avoid the XY dilemma of an ignored middle legendary, Eternatus becomes the freebie legend in the main campaign while rotating dog model is saved for "post game".

Note how crystal, emerald and platinum were the third games of gens that were actually good to begin with. They weren't going to magically fix a mediocre game like x and y with a 3rd version. B2W2 was a complete anomaly because the whole point of gen 5 was they were trying something new both with the new dex and having proper sequels, they'll never do anything like that again unfortunately

Trials are quite literally just Gyms without the buildings and trainers, during pre debug phase SM they almost certainly already came up with gym order and gym leaders since characters are what they work on early on. When they decided to turn the gyms into trials, all they would have to do was not have them be tied to buildings, remove the trainers, call them trials and the gym leaders into trial captains and create boss Pokémon.

Nigga who criticized GF for that? Also adding one rare Pokémon most people likely won't even get late into the development of the game doesn't mean the game was rushed. Many other games have Easter eggs/special stuff like that added in the debugging phase. That doesn't mean they're rushed
