As for the why? Because as usual, normalfags don't like to think, they'd rather consume . It's only when they're faced against the most divisive situation that they finally give critique; not necessarily a proper critique, nor a well thought one, but a critique nonetheless.
And in the corporate bootlickers's case, they just can't be arsed to look at anything in a negative light until it becomes tainted by politics they don't agree with.
