Even HGSS had scale, in case you've already forgotten. Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and many such Pokemon had sprites larger than the player to maintain their scale. The fact that Dialga isn't even a bit bigger than the player to simulate something a game from 2009 on superior hardware is a goddamn laugh.

It's bad enough the models look bad and bland. Following Pokémon getting Amie buffs is what kills the mechanic. I don't know if I'm buying these games anymore. Pokémon got sick after Gen 4 and died after Gen 5.

A chibi isn’t a scaled down version of a character. You need to make it deformed and stylized to call it chibi.
In the same damn screenshot, you have the human characters who are chibified. Dialga isn’t but tbf, the other mons are probably also scaled down versions, so yeah, it’s whatever.
