HGSS isn't bad, I never said that. They add some nice things that you listed off. Even the ones I dismissed are still good added features and I can't knock that at all. The thing is, I just fucking hate how the DS games look. Its like you're staring at barf the entire time and they're fucking slow as balls in battle to boot. The original GSC are far superior to me. I understand that is highly subjective. But the originals are still the best. Gold and Silver were concise games focused on what they wanted to be without bells and whistles and without pandering or handholding bullshit whatsoever. Crystal actually began the handholding slightly by giving you hints about sudowoodo and making previously invisible items visible on the ground as well as giving Mt. Mortar light.
There is something intangible about GSC that oozes charm. I don't care if they objectively have less content or are less polished or have less pokemon or whatever. They're the best games in the series. Period. However, the only reason I ranked them below ORAS and LGPE is that these games are strict upgrades to slightly shitty or janky games and add to the experience a bit more in that regard.
Again, my opinion.
