The main game is a lot easier in DX than the originals. This mainly comes down to recruiting Pokemon. Around halfway through the game you go through a gauntlet of dungeons where it’s just you and your partner. In DX you’re allowed to recruit Pokemon during this gauntlet, so once difficult challenges are now rushed down with overwhelming numbers. In fact, I’m pretty sure you can recruit Pokemon in any dungeon but your first time through the final one, which makes the postgame easier too.
I’m not saying that DX is bad though, I actually prefer it. There’s a ton of QoL changes and a few new Pokemon from later generations. Plus you can find shinies in DX, and the rescuing system can be very rewarding.
