Then why did they look like it up until the 2nd trailer? For fucks sake, they even still use the SWSH style for the Pokemon even though the Home devs are making it and have all the assets in the app.

It boggles my mind how there were clearly competent people on this team and yet it was such a stripped down remake with little improvements.
The modeling team did a good job, animation team too, but the music is all out of whack and character posing is janky like Mars.
There's so many weirdly cut corners, and it seems like they were done intentionally. That's usually a fault of the directors, so in this I feel confident to blame Masuda for this fuckup.
