Can anyone actually explain why in fuck Nintendo haven't given the green light for one of their good devs to make a Pokemon title?
Monolith Soft, Next Level, Intelligent Systems, HAL Laboratory.
Now the taboo is broken with ILCA, really there isn't a reason why an actual good studio shouldn't be able to tackle a "mainline" game or at least do a good "totes not next gen successor pokemon wink wink" ""spinoff"".

The truth is, by now I am almost fully convinced that everyone at Nintendo actually hates Pokemon.
If not everyone, then the core of it has a sort of disdain for it compared to their other franchises. In a way, they don't see it as their own. Even if Pokemon is supposed to be seen as part of the big three with Mario and Zelda, I feel like Nintendo doesn't see it as such and has more 'affection' for its other 'core' franchises like Metroid and Kirby for example.

Nintendo doesn't have full ownership of the IP and can't really do anything about it. TPC handles primary publishing duties for non-mainline titles.

Next Level is really meh but IS and Monolith are both great developers. Far better than GF will ever be.

I would be quite surprised if the Nintendo long-timers weren't sick of ALL of their mainstays at this point, if only for the repetition. Granted some of those mainstays get to change it up a lot more than Pokemon does.
