SM/USUM are decent games but are too easy and there's way too many cutscenes, be it in game render or overworld. they just interrupt the fucking gameplay
Also the islands are painfully linear. But for the 3ds game though it's definitely one of the better looking 3ds games. Probably ranked 5 in best looking 3ds games of all time, before the swsh shit storm. music is good too. that one rom hack made things interesting but doesn't change everything else that's wrong outside of the difficulty

Gen 7 as a whole is better than what came immediately before and after and I'd take that in a heartbeat over SWOOSH. If only the major flaws of it were fixed, it'd no doubt be my top 3 favourite gens

No. A game where you're constantly interrumpted and lose control of your character is terrible. There are lots of moments where you brifely regain control only to trigger a new cutscene after a couple of steps.

It's literal garbage.

I wanna play Sun and Moon for the first time, should I go with the base games or Ultra version? I looked up online and people said the base games have better story while ultra version is better gamewise but has more handholding, this true?

Without the cutscenes, it's playable. As it stands, it is a fane that doesn't let you play. The amount of times you lose controlf of your character and the games turns into visual novel where all you do is mash a (and that doesn't even make the dialogue go any faster).

It's terrible, but without that, it's tolerable.

Holy shit, this. SM is boderline unplayable.

The only thing it does better than other Pokemon games is the plot with Lusamine and her kids. And even that doesn't really go anywhere until you get off the fucking tutorial island.

Nah I think Alola isn't a theme park region like Galar or Kalos is. The locations feel realistic and in general it feels like a real place people would live in rather than just a tourist trap
