Games have always been measured up against singular totals - from the paired releases only being compared to their peer paired releases, to the rehashes being measured against each other (and unovatards attempting to subvert that by calling the sequel something other than a region rehash). And frankly, after ORAS sold just a few million shy of base RS, I'm expecting BDSP to sell a few million shy of DP's original mark, which leaves it well within the range of outselling BW.
And if you still want to play a combined pissing game, I'm sure Legends' performance will help push Sinnoh's sales marque higher than Unova's total.
