You're a bit young if you don't know this...
>G3: People hated that it went back to 1 region only per game, can't transfer Pokemon from GSC to RSE. Story became more complex for some people's liking. Pokemon "look like digimon".
>G4: Too damn slow. The "evolution" generation. Too many damn legendaries. Too many dragon and psychic legendaries. Too many events that are blocked off from international games. Too few good Pokemon to use in a run.
>G5: The gen where everything starts to become way too easy. HMs are practically optional, and TMs can be used infinitely. No more poison damage in the overworld. Every corner there is a Nurse Joy. Tries to be a soft reboot of the franchise that no one asked for by remaking all the Kanto mons. Barely resembles New York. The linear path inside a circle is weird. Sprite animation looks like something you'd see in a Newgrounds flash.
>G6: The beginning of laziness. Really focusing in on how to jerk off nostalgiafags without giving too much effort. All models created to be reused again in the future for infinity, and because of that, some Pokemon like Moltres or Rapidash may lag the game. Regions become extremely easy. Route 1 is guaranteed catching. You get given Kanto starters in addition to Kalos ones. Kalos ones can't mega evolve so they become forgettable. Mega evolution is added only to be replaced later.
>G7: No added megas. Replaced with Z Moves, which will be replaced again next gen by Dynamaxing. No gyms, replaced by island challenges which are strange. Region is 4 linear circles now. HMs are now replaced by riding a few Pokemon that are not on your team. Rotom dex is annoying.
