Thinking of getting a 2ds and older games for collection's sake, how easy is it to transfer pokemon from gen 4-7 games up to home?

If you want to do it legitimately then you have to own original cartridges, DS and 2DS/3DS.

If you don't mind a little cheating then all you need is a 2DS/3DS.
