It doesn't work because the fight is on Gen 1 mechanics, it gets hard stopped by the Bastiodon with super effective Blizzard. Also the Durant outspeeds and 2 shots even after Rock Polish

The fight's not meant to be unwinnable, it's the hard mode 15th gym leader. There's no 'intended method to beat her, I won with swapping out one of my members with Incineroar and changing up some held items

The fight takes place in Gen 1 mechanics, and most of her team is pretty slow, so you're meant to abuse how crit mechanics worked back then to bust through her mons. Megagross and Durant obviously require a bit more thought

It's just the one fight and a few others. The game has a thing called Field Effects which are basically massively updated terrains, the battlefield which she fights on that causes the Gen 1 mechanics is called the Glitch Field. Bosses gain a usually big buff from fields but you're supposed to take advantage of them yourself like >>48676400 said

the move is calculated via your special defense stat, and the fight is wonder room so special defense and defense are swapped plus gen 1 mechanics where special defense/attack are the same stat, so calm mind basically buffs its defense, special attack and special defense while powering up that move which is already strong from bronzong's high defense

So what happens is Calm Mind buffs Special Defense, which gets swapped to buffing Defense from Wonder Room, but also buffs Special Attack, so the Special stat per Gen 1. Super UMD Move uses your special defense, so it uses the defense stat under Wonder Room and thus Calm Mind buffs it and the Bold nature makes it stronger.
