>>48679185The franchise was there as a comfort during some pretty less than stellar times in my life. RBY helped me make friends in a new school, RS released around the time my mom died and Platinum was there to lift my spirits when I was in literal poverty and reeling from my hobby pricing itself way out of my affordability range. Hell, this franchise even helped me lose my virginity if you can believe it.
Basically, Pokemon gave me good experiences when I needed them most through much of my life, from childhood and into adulthood. But I am going to "grow out of it" soon, in the sense that if these games aren't going to course correct by the time gen IX drops, I'm getting rid of all my Pokemon shit. Actually already thinking of where to put the money I'll get from it, looking forward to it even. Despite my attachment to the franchise, I haven't really enjoyed these games since gen VI. XY was the last time I really, truly enjoyed Pokemon.
