How do I make a pokemon team?
I'm playing Pokemon Inclement Emerald a ROM hack of Pokemon Emerald with ALL generation 1-7 pokemon obtainable and I don't know how to make a comprehensive team. There's so many fucking choices. Idk I kinda want to drop Tentacruel.

To expand on this, I (not the same anon, btw) like to build my team around a Grass/Fire/Water-Core. Then add other Pokemon, based off whatever statspreads and/or types I'm missing or what would cover my weaknesses with my existing core

I'm playing Inclement Emerald so it's not using normal/base values.
Mega Sceptile is incredibly dirty. It's ability makes it so it's abilities act as if Sunny Day is active regardless of weather. Growth ups 2 stages, Synthesis heals 2/3, Solar Beam and Solar Blade don't need to charge.

Easiest way is to find something you like and think around it.
The first thing we see in every single game is a very common core of Fire-->Grass-->Water. You could build a core right around those three and move up from there and find out any of your missing weaknesses/typings and figure out stat spreads. I think going for more offensive-based teams is easier because not only are games faster, but you learn the importance of knowing when to switch out.

Choose Pokémon by type coverage. For me essential types are:

Water
Grass/Electric
Dark/Ghost
Ground
Fire
Flying
Fight

Every other type is a bonus. Need lots of dual types to cover this. Don't allow type clashes and certain coverage overlaps.

Intimidate on non-Mega Mawile is better than Huge Power, and Strong Jaw is not even that good of an ability
The only thing that's bullshit is Shiftry's lack of buffs, but that could be said for a lot of the Pokemon in the romhack. The devs clearly chose favorites
I don't even think most of the new abilities are that OP, because most of them were given to Pokemon who are shit. Either that, or they're just fairly-standard abilities

I actually like when game (especially any /mon/ game or similar concept) has options on variety of powerlevel so depending on my playstyle and needs i can customize my experience and difficulty.
Sometimes i prefer to use pic related to setup screens and either try to beat opponent with low-powered elemental punches or pivot to different, more offensive Pokemon instead of
