Can someone explain to me why people prefer the USUM games? The story in this is a massive downgrade compare to SM, is the postgame content ridiculously good or something?

Oh no, the original story is clearly better as it was written the way it was intended. The USUM story was revised from the originals to shoehorn Nihilego out and Necrozma in, accompanied by a postgame Team Rocket story. It's almost as if the latter was developed by younger GF employees so the older team could work on a Kanto switch game...

Because it has much more stuff to do in it. More post game, more pokémon, more side quests, more mini games, more challenge etc. It's virtually better in every regard from SM but the story and even then the story isn't as bad as, say XY or SWSH. Anyone who prefers the originals is a retard

SM is miles better for story but USUM does add a fair bit. It has GFs attempts at little side quests. For better or worse they build off what SM did to make a better game but you're not exactly missing out too much of you've only played SM.
I played Sun at launch and finally tried UM a month ago. There is a suprising challenge in some areas over Sun, but my team is a bit shitmony

>First third version to introfuce all-new pokemon and not just forms

oh and one I forgot even though its subtle, the movement speed on the overall is faster than vanilla SM. Makes it feel a bit better to play

SM were rushed once once Lusamine was dealt with. USUM have more content overall, especially postgame content. I also liked all the extra Pokemon I could get via Ultra Warp Ride and collecting totem stickers.

Replaying Ultra Moon and honestly the story was fine until the Lusamine fight in Aether Paradise. In the span of 5 minutes she went from "I'M NOT YOUR MOTHER I HAVE NO CHILDREN FUCK YOU" to "O MY BELOVED CHILDREN WHO HAVE GROWN UP SO MUCH" it's really funny. Other than that basically everything everyone else already said. There's just too much new additions that USUM to ever have to go back to SM, and it's not like I was ever into Pokemon for the story in the first place.
