I don't want to try to hijack or change the thread but while we're thinking of new abilities/moves can we also think about a new layer of battles? Like starting with gen 1 there's type advantages, status moves, and speed. Then there's priority moves. Then weather. Then terrain. I'm not asking for gimmicks like z/mega/dynamax that are only around for 1 gen. I mean a new permanent layer that can be utilized in every battle. Someone ITT described a "downed" status, something like that. Anybody else have new status effect ideas?

Also for my move idea it's Swords Dance/any other stat boosting move that affects a partner instead of the user. Got the idea from playing RPGs where one party member will buff another's damage/defense etc.

I read somewhere that the honest-to-god in-world lore reason for bipedal and humanoid pokemon was human-pokemon interbreeding. Not only that, but there is in-lore sources that state at one point people married pokemon. To boot you can find humans who can talk to pokemon, use psychic abilities, read aura like Lucario, and see ghosts that you would normally need a special tool to even perceive. What are the implications of this? How many humans are technically pokemon because they have like 1/64th pokemon genes?

Japs are fucking weird so I believe it. To answer the question, Id say at least 5% of the population in the pokemon world has pokemon genes. This is why there are those certain trainers (protags, E4, exceptional trainers etc.) that are extraordinary and are more "connected" to pokemon than "normies" (full humans who end up like fishermen and shit). Even if its all headcanon it kinda checks out.
