In 2010, the only other remakes we had were FRLG and the recently released HGSS, this would have looked amazing to us back then. The problem is Game Freak isn't keeping up with modern standards for what their games should look like, which outgrew what Gen 4 was capable of doing almost as soon as Black and White came out. Say what you want about those games, but the public consensus is that those games looked leagues better than what Gen 4 had to offer.

Is it just me or does this game look kinda blurry? If feels like it's hazy and not high resolution, which is weird because even SwSh and LGPE don't look this blurry, they look somewhat sharp and crisp, but this one just looks blurry.

I've been playing it in emulator and it's actually quite crisp. Screenshots compressed to hell and the trailers themselves don't do it justice.
Not to say they're good graphics still but they aren't as ass as you're led to believe.

You could say the same with going to 1998 and telling people that in 12 entire years time, when we'd gone from the PS1 to PS3 generation, Pokemon would look and play pretty much the same but only in colour instead of monochrome. Pokemon has always looked like total shit compared to what was going on at the time; Gen 1 was the same year as games like OoT and Resi 2 and yet it was black and white and really more worthy of being released in 1986.

Yeah, top looks like GC and bottom looks like PS1. The bottom is less than half the resolution of the top one and has no AA at all, no other effects like DoF, either. Both are miles behind what other things were doing at the time of their release, though.

The shittiness of BDSP and pokemon games generally doesn't come through in screenshots. You have to see the laughable animations and complete visual/gameplay mess to get the full feeling for it

The models are better quality. Of course the resolution is garbage, these are 3DS games, but set an emulator to output these at 4x res and you'll see the models are more impressive than the ones from the new Pokemon games. You don't even need to use an emulator if you're that against them, just rotate the camera and fill you're entire screen with a single character or monster to see the quality of the models. New Pokemon games might have good resolution, but that's not all that useful when their models are as bad as they are. MHS at least has things like scales, fur and feathers visibly modeled on the monsters, while everything in Pokemon is made of plastic now.

I think, in 2010, people wouldn't be too shocked about a HD version of the Diamond and Pearl games with the same maps and scale looking like that. I think they'd be surprised it looks so much like a PSP game but they wouldn't be too bothered about it.
