It's about the same difficulty until around Candice/Cyrus when the level curve catches up and the held items actually do begin making somewhat of a difference. The Amie stuff doesn't make as big of a difference as the doomposters say but it has a noticeable impact. Cynthia is also definitely harder than the original but the E4 remain basically the same even with the better stats and movesets. Haven't tried postgame fights yet

I lost to roark the first time because of bulldoze, which I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t have that problem first time playing through dppt. So I guess so far it’s harder. Will let you know after the third badge if it’s still more difficult

Much, much easier. I only wanted like 4 or 5 pokemon for the first 2 gyms but there was literally no reason not to have 6 cause they all just get free exp. It's impossible to lose unless you're trying to play sub optimally
