>>48712805I personally love the fact that, though she's often portrayed as comically violent (and there's a reason for that), the games confirm that Hatterene can still form genuine bonds with their trainer...if you put in a bunch of effort for it (such as taking them to empty places with no one else around so they can relax or having to gradually get it used to slight emotions) and even then they'll never have the same level of devotion to you that the average Pokemon would have.
Hatterene is like a cat, in the sense that they're grumpy and want to be left alone, get very agitated (sometimes violent) if they're disturbed, are highly territorial, and when they finally warm up to someone after all the time it takes to befriend or train them they usually only approach them when they want something (be it attention or to play or just food) and will otherwise just do their own thing. Sometimes, though, they'll come near you because they just want to be with you, and it makes it worth it. Also they're both fluffy and cute but will seriously hurt people who don't know what they're doing.
Except instead of a feline friend it's a tiny fae witch that looks like an alien inside of a gigantic robe and witch hat made of magical hair and a tentacle that ends in razor sharp claws.
Either way they're fuckin' rad and I love'em.
