I never argued that using only one Pokémon is wrong, but it's clearly not the intended method. If the game goes out of its way to tell you to use more than one (when it could just not do that) and forces you to catch more Pokémon to progress, then it's clearly the intended method. Whether that method is good or not is debatable. However, as I said here (
