Affection was combined with Friendship. Anything you do that raises friendship: winning battles, taking steps, gaining exp, leveling up, etc, now also increases affection and gives you Amie buffs. Also if you use following Pokémon, which was BDSP’s only selling point prior to the leaks, you now get Amie buffs.

This is the only complaint I actually have. I was super stoked when the remakes were announced. You'd think with another studio handling it and all the code existing for the Pokémon in SwSh, they could've included everything, but nooope. Pokémon is dead. The only thing it's good for is using the Pokémon world and characters/monsters in fan games or tabletop games.

It's a game I already like, remade for a console I actually use, and it will be less tedious to play than the original to accommodate my diminishing patience.

Also, no HMs. Though I still think it would've been better if your own pokemon used the HM moves, so you still had to have a water type, flying type, etc on your team, just that the moves didn't take up a slot.

The entire OST has been patched in, the MIDI stuff was actually just a placeholder. Gym Leader, Elite 4, and Champion rematches are back with two tiers now and they have full competitive teams. All Mythical events are in the game except Arceus’ data is nearly completely wiped. Ramanas Park is the new Legendary capture feature with actual requirements needed to find the slates in order to battle them. Distortion World is back as a smaller location with a Giratina Lvl 100 boss battle. Rotom’s room in the Galactic Hideout is back. Swarm encounters are now overworld encounters. DS Sounds feature that’s like GB Sounds from HGSS except it’s the actual original soundtrack and not recreations. Underground encounters have several Gen 1-4 Pokémon including Fire-types, and it expands after you complete the game. And every QOL change from SWSH including Ability Patch, Bottle Caps, etc. is in the game. Finally the games have data for Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar so a future update may let you transfer Gen 5-8 Pokémon from Home to BDSP

I haven’t played Pokémon since the ones with French hitler but I might check these out

Sword and Shield was far from perfect, the game has lots of faults (some of which carried over to these remakes like the 20 minute online match timers, FUCK OFF WITH THIS SHIT ALREADY GAMEFREAK YOU FUCKING NIGGERS PUT IT BACK TO 1 HOUR, 20 MINUTES IS NOT ENOUGH TO PLAY A 6v6 YOU CUNTS) and I just won't buy it. Not gonna take part in any cringy boycott though, I'll just play my pirated version, make a few complaint threads when I'm inevitably underwhelmed and then I'll move on.
That game does look to be dogshit though. Dunno what they were thinking, especially with the amie crap.

This is not true. Only the E4 and Champion have two tier rematches, and even then it’s not competitive because rematches don’t scale to your level. Being 3 levels higher than them is enough to completely negate all their EV training. And this is ignoring the amie buffs you get.

SuMo has a lot of talking- it didn't bother me but some people really couldn't take it- and thats cool

I honestly thought SwSh wasnt that bad- and the DLC kept me playing for a while. As much hate as it gets, Dynamax really helped make battling more fun for me since it gave pokemon that weren't great time to shine (Also, Dynamax lapras, and my new fav duraludon)- Sure, it was a little clunky and not like STELLAR- but the character customization was really fun this time around. I really enjoyed it, and I only though sun and moon were "eh."

BDSP is shaping up to be a smoother version of original DP- It'll have a good amount of pokemon, It introduces not using HMs which is lovely, and it looks to be a good romp. Is it going to be the best pokemon game out there? no- Would I almost suggest getting SwSh first before this if you're getting a switch? Yes.

But as someone who has enjoyed the games since rby- I'd say its going to be fun
