What kind of Pokemon do you use the most?

I found that I'm more inclined to use Pokemon that look tough and ready to kick ass. Cuter or more docile looking mons like a Gastrodon, or Azumarill rarely make it onto my teams.

same but i rarely use monotypes unless unless all my team is monotype, mixing the two feels skewed
no repeating types either, bonus if pokemon have different colours

I generally like use mons that are visually/conceptually interesting and avoid humanoids. Organic in the sense that they behave like super powered animals and monsters. Monsters can be human-like but in a world where you are actively domesticating and fighting with these monsters it irks me to picture using a tiger wrestler cartoon character or lizard with literal finger guns. Alakazam or Mewtwo (yes Kanto) are about as "human" like as I would go as they are obviously extremely intelligent but not obviously so on an emotional or cognitive level that would call to question why they aren't forming civilizations yet or directly communicating with humans.

Clean designs. Doesn't necessarily have to be simplistic, just focused. S'why I dislike how most of the megas look, usually they're just unecessary junk tacked on to an otherwise solid design(honorable mention to MegaBeedrill for doing it right). I prefer when they look more like a creature than a character from a pixar movie. Comparing chinchou to lanturn is a great example. Agree with >>48734932 on the humanoid types. Also have a liking for the big lumbering collosus types. Gen 2 was my favorite list of pokes, with gen 3 being the runner up with a very solid dex.

Lots of Fighting types for sure, and the bulkier looking normal and poison types. Water and Grass always have a place on my team, but Fire types are usually too majestic or over designed.
Lots of Goblin and oval-shaped pokemon. I'm fine with humanoids, but most of them are too skinny or feminine.
I like weaker pokemon like Hypno, Tropius, or the generational Rattata. I wish Eviolite was given earlier in most games to support that.

Anything with the stats to take some hits, but still attack. Not quite a full tank focus like Blissey or Toxapex do.

If I'm not using a gimmick team I use:

This seems non-specific but it typically tends to boil my teams down to the same 100-150 mons. Still a lot of variety though. I do tend to enjoy "cool" designs overall, but I also like some "cute" designs as well as a few oddball designs (pic related) too. But designs that seem battle-functional in a battle oriented game I just naturally gravitate too.

I use overpowered shit on PvP because I don't confuse aesthetics and roleplay with playing to win.

I always have some sort of flying type in my party due to using it to fly all over the place. Even when they got rid of HMs, I still do that out of habit. I also tend to have a team full of early route shit/whatever I can get at the beginning even if it's event stuff.

I like pokemons that could almost be animals. Very realistic, but with a special feature (psychic power, fire-breathing, etc...) that distinguishes them from a real animal. I'm not a fan of humanoid pokemons and I hate pokemon-objects.

I really love a lot of the bizarre almost anthropological ones, like Claydol, Bronzong, Sigilyph. The sorts of concepts underlying Medicham+mega, Gothitelle, and Musharna, Reuniclus fascinate me. I basically love psychic types but literary ones appeal to me a lot too, like the Spectrier/Glastrier, Virizion, Flaaffy, Grimmsnarl to a slightly lesser extent. I think I prefer certain concepts over a visual paradigm.
