When did I say you had to blindly obey music theory? WHEN?
Music theory exists for a reason: to explain why certain things "work" (create a specific emotional response in the listener), and then to apply that knowledge while composing a brand new piece.
IGNORING music theory is why 99.9% of songs sound like shit. Since the 1950s, popular music has literally just been the same 5 chords set in a four-chord loop on repeat. Radio and rock killed music permanently.

An artist should be applying all the knowledge they know to every piece they write, and they should not complain when they get critiqued from an objective standpoint. Like
