It's not that, although I definitely think anyone using the term Stantlercuck unironically is a fake fan. Most of those people are criticizing the way you talk, the company you keep and how you conduct yourself; not validating the decision to cut 29% of the Pokemon or not have them all ever again.

I didn’t really look a Twitter during the height of the Controversy and was only ever an observer but most of the stuff I did see was: someone says they’re unhappy with Dexit or mention a Pokémon they miss, then someone comes in and tells them that they complaints don’t matter and that they’re entitled and toxic (BBND most definitely had their share of assholes, but at least BBND’s view makes sense, DBBND is just people going out of their way to be against the national dex solely out of spite. Not helping is that the internet as a whole only seemed interested in calling out BBND’s bad behavior, when DBBND was just as bad if not worse. https://imgur.com/a/UattYIf (not mine found it)

Its probably just a couple of trolls baiting but it seems that whenever someone posts a fan game (most recently Pokémon Wild) there are comments about how it shouldnt be posted here, or comments complaining about stupid things. Now obviously Critism is important and the devs actually want people to tell them what’s wrong. But some of the complaints are just nitpicks that ignore the fact that it’s being made by like 5 people for free and many of the problems are being worked on (Again most people are reasonable with their critique so it might just be that it’s only just a few shitposters that I’m sensitive about due to being frustrated with how shit the fanbase has become)

It wasn't always like this.
/vp/ used to have real discussion, /vp/ used to have fun, /vp/ used to trade and battle and game together, and /vp/ used to have hype seasons. Genwunners were routinely mocked, genwars often shunned, future games were once looked forward to, and mentioning the DS games (especially Gen 5) didn't immediately get threads spammed to death by the same 5 trolls. Fan theories were shared, fangames were posted, fan content discussed, and it didn't all get shut down by the very same trolls who get angry and spam "fanfic [subject]!" whenever something that isn't official is even implied. (e.g. XYSider)
This board used to be worth visiting.

There is no demographic of people who play Pokémon games but have hardline opinions about the first gen titles. Genwunners in the West didn't play any of the games after RBY until Go and don't even know the other titles exist, they're wholly indifferent to Pokémon

Because there is very little to actually discuss. Pretty much everything that can be said about the older games has been said 100 times over by this point, and everyone knows the newer games are lazily made and full of flaws.
