The only people autistic enough to be able to shuffle through the esoteric nightmare of making romhacks are the same demographic of edgy weirdos.

It's like all their writing, balancing, etc. brain processing power just went into learning scripting. You look at some of these hacks and you really wonder how someone so genuinely awful at writing could have pulled through to make something so arguably difficult.

Romhacks are really not that hard to make, especially if you're talking about super old romhacks. Snakewood was very clearly made with just some fiddling on romhack tools and wasting a lot of time with creating a game (work dumb and hard, basically)

Not worth it, Dark Rising (at least 1) is absolutely fucking agonizing in its level curve/inflated difficulty. Dark Rising Order Destroyed is pretty edgykino AND actually has a neat survival gameplay concept.

DROD was okay actually apart from how you could bug the game out 20sec in if you wanted and it just losing the plot in the final stretch which kind of soured the experience a bit.

Because during your early teenage years when it's uncool to be seen doing anything even remotely childish, the only people who really stand by Pokemon all the way through are, for the most part, awkward weebs.
