One of the things lost in the transition from sprites to 3D was posture.
Looking at Lugia for example, the body used to be near parallel to the ground and the neck and head extended forward.
Moving into 3D both the Genius Sonority games and modern 3D, Lugia was locked to a vertical orientation.
Doesn't help that in Amie/following in the crown tundra it stands like a man in a suit.

tfw apart from fire effects gamefreak doesn't have the balls to make a pokemon glow 24/7. Make it glow fully by default and make it glow even HARDER when it does actions.
