>>48746473>But it doesno it fucking doesn't. it's not a scythe, it's a sharp blade-like arm as inspired by praying mantises, same as the countless examples of insectoid monsters pulling from the same concept. Just because it's not done in a 100% realistic scientifically accurate away doesn't mean it doesn't remain an organic look. take one of these creatures that have a more "serious", "realistic" tone than pokemon such as the zerg or the starship troopers arachnid, are you really gonna pretend that if you removed the bladed arms and replaced them with literal axes like Kleavor's that it would somehow be just as acceptable? of course not, it would feel extremely wrong because it wouldn't feel organic in any way.
>Several species of crab and scorpion would disagree with you. Hell, scissors are basically human's version of insect pincers. They're the same shit.way to completely contradict yourself. >Those look nothing like any crab or scorpion pincer I've ever seen. Also it's name is scissor - they should be scissors, not claws.
>The anime - an official media source - depicted it as hair. >BUT ITS NOT THE GAMES Doesn't matter, it was approved by Gamefreak and Nintendo.lmao they are completely different canons. do you really think sugimori is watching every frame of the anime ready to veto and ask for a redo because some animator misinterpreted or took artistic liberties on small scyther detail? in the anime they literally had jynx with feet even though in the games the pokedex shows it has no footprint. this are incredibly minor examples as far as anime/game divergences goes. only a moron would think everything in the anime is canon and accurate to the games.
But let's pretend for a second Scyther's designer actually intended for for it to be hair, it's still natural hair in the same way growlithe or mankey have hair, not hair as in human hairdo. same way you dont see people complain about (regular) meowth having a moustache, they are natural whiskers.
