If you could pick two regions as the settings for a new game with a completely new story, which two would you pick? These are my choices.

Sinnoh and Hoenn don't make sense together. They are the north and south extremes of Japan.

I agree, but Kyushu and Hokkaido are on opposite ends of Japan. I don't know how Game Freak would justify being able to travel to and from these two regions in a way that makes sense, unless they add an airport or something.

Sure, but the reason you were even able to go to Kanto in the first place in Gen 2 was because Kansai and Kanto were right next to each other irl. These regions were obviously meant to be a fantasy version of Japan.

I would rather have 4 regions. Johto + Kanto + Sinnoh + Hoenn. Since its canon that Johto and Sinnoh are close enough to have ruins between them it makes sense to have them together and Id love to explore that. Then you take in the fact that Johto and Kanto are literally connected and it only makes sense to have Kanto in as well, plus all the fun of the Sevii islands. From that point its not illogical to include Hoenn and its surrounding islands (Including battle frontier) and its my favorite region. All things considered, if that game were to ever happen, using either gen 3 or gen 4 graphics it would be the perfect pokemon game in my opinion.

This actually confuses me cause isn't Hokkaido actually closer to Kanto than the Kansai region in the real world?
