Soaring and DexNav were literally the best ORAS additions. It's still not enough to justify playing them over Emerald, even if Emerald doesn't have the physical-special split. If it weren't for the fact that ORAS had 721 Pokemon, Emerald would undoubtedly be the definitive way to play Hoenn just like Platinum is still the definitive way to play Sinnoh despite BDSP.

it really wasn't. soaring was boring because there wasn't any exploration to it. it's just big blue nothing all above hoenn except for the occasional Wingull. The tricks were like the roller blade tricks from X and Y; they were neat and i'm glade they're there but ultimately you stop bothering with them after a short time. and the final sin was that soaring to your destination was slower than flying there.

Running into and hunting down Latios was a major memory of mine as a kid, I remember being in a car on a trip or something and freaking out and showing my cousin in the other seat. It took me a long ass time to get him and I kept him in my party ever since, I thought Luster Purge was the coolest attack name.

The game just handing you a Lati totally removes any...what's the word, any value that comes with getting a rare Pokemon, there's no difference between this so called "Legendary" and some random giftmon other than the fact that this one can shitstomp the game. If they were gonna do that, they should have at least made the other Lati roam to make up for it.

I also really miss roamers but most other fans hated them so they took them out. I did enjoy what they did with the Eon Ticket though, probably took a few kids by surprise when they played the game for the first time. I don't think just giving you a Lati@s was game ruining, they really only did it to justify soaring, but I wouldn't have just made it a random gift Pokemon at the end of the first half of the game.

ORAS had their share of flaws but this really isn't one of them, this is one of those non-issues that people deflect onto because it's low-hanging fruit for people who get angry at the thought of children using gift Pokemon to breeze through the game for some reason.
