>The sun was high in the sky, just below the peak, as I sat on a hill taking my 30 minute lunch from my office job.>Wispy clouds milleded across the sky, above the provincial town below me, people milled from place to place.>I looked at my watch. Two minutes left really four, but I knew how long it would take to walk back to my cubicle.>My head went limp from exhaustion, but I got 8 hours of sleep last night. Nor was my work shift particularly long, and I made a decent pay.>I've felt exhausted since I graduated high school. Four long years of milling along.>I stood with a sigh, turning slowly back when a bright purple light extended from behind me.>I twisted around quickly, as a strong gust pulled towards the light.>Soundlessly the earth had split open, beams of purple light pointing to the sky, scored the center of town. The sun seemed dim in comparison yet it didn't hurt my eyes.>I fell back in shock, as screams reached my ears from below me. I watched people run out in terror, my eyes struggling back to the center.>I saw it, brighter than the piercing light behind it, a line of sharp spine segments, attached to a pair of exposed lower jaws. Teeth on both sides, the head was five jagged lines with a "visor" filling the gaps.>It floated forward, swaying like a serpent, but it's movements were snappy like something played at a low frame rate.>The ground below it cracked and tore from itself before turning to nothing as it got close to the levithan.>My breath got rapid, as it drew ever closer. Fear of course... but I was infatuated, two jagged tendrils extended from around the head, at the same spot two arms.>Just below that set of perfectly geometric shapes extended down her, holding an impossibly dark sphere... was I drooling?>I stood giveing a twitching smile. The beast grew closer, I closed my eyes, taking a step forward while reaching my hand to the heavens above.
