Order of operations, you work the problem from left to right until you get an answer. That's how I was taught to do it, that's how it works if you plug it into scientific calculator, that's how you get 15.

Even if you do the math wrong as 3 + (5+7), you go:
>3 + (5+7)
>3 + 12
>15
It's 15 either way.

Not true. The order of the parentheses is important, if you do the left and the middle and then the right and the new left you get "15" (but not really) but if you do the right and the left and then new right with the left you get 15
