I'm the opposite, it looks like it spits in the face of pokemon, whereas BDSP actually stay true to the roots of the franchise. Fuck PLA, fuck GF, ICLA should handle development of the franchise going forward because they understand what makes pokemon pokemon.

More that BDSP have more in common with gens 1-4 (the classic pokemon games) than 5-8 (the games that basically beat pokemon as a franchise into a bloody pulp with bad decision after bad decision). HGSS were the pinnacle of the franchise, and everything after was straight downhill on an incline that's just been getting steeper and steeper. BDSP are a leap upward before PLA plunges the franchise into an inescapable crevasse that will kill the franchise.

Same OP. It’s legitimately what I’ve wanted out of this franchise for so damn long. Just a nice wide open world where I can catch Pokémon, implementing realistic features like the ability to be hurt both in battle and via fall damage, and slightly changing up the combat to be more dynamic without making it not turn based. It’s far from perfect by the looks of it but it’s quite simply what I want in a Pokémon game so I will buy and and enjoy it.

SM proved to me that GF can still make good games although very flawed, the foundation is there. If only they had more time and actually actively listened to the playerbase, SM story with USUM content, a (good) skip button and a little less linearity would easily be one of the best pokemon games

Pokémon NEVER tried to court kids and adults, it was unashamedly kiddy to the point the biggest surprise to the devs was seeing adults on trains on the way to work playing Pokémon (that's when they started to realise the scope of the popularity of the thing they'd created). That hasn't changed - in fact, it's only shaped itself to better encourage the little hands to finish the damn things - as that's what ensures they're sold on the rest of the IP. The games are the core of the whole empire anon and if you sell the kids on the games, you sell them on the empire. Just look at all the retarded manchildren on the internet who got sold on the kiddy games, who now demand the games continue to suck up to them, as they did 10, 15 and 20 years ago, when they were retard kids back in the late 90's/early '00's, as if the fact they're obsessed with the brand somehow overrides the franchise's entire M.O.

I believe the monster hunter style was the best choice to do for pokemon. They tried to do open world in the wild areas and we ran into pokemon we couldn't catch.

Now that they are able to have better control over the areas based on the mission and location, it gives us more freedom within those areas.

Hell, it's the whole reason Nintendo called their first system the "Family Computer" and why Mario Zelda et al were created - to appeal to both demographics to ensure the systems got sold and that the games they themselves produced could be played by anyone in the house without taking offence to content. But Tajiri created Pokémon with kids in mind and he may have stepped off the development floor 20 years ago, but his ethos and vision for the games still rings true - they continue to introduce children to a voyage of exploration on a coming-of-age journey, just as when kids first found Red and Green in Japanese shops.
Tell me again why you deserve to be considered over the millions of kids who'll get their first Pokémon experience with the new games again.
