What are your favorite plot threads, characters, or happenings that seemed to just go absolutely nowhere?
Ryuki hyped me up as a possible "reference" to what the next region might be. But then they wanked him off as a Kantonian fag and we got SwShie which afaik has no reference to him.

Couriway Town having an inaccessible train that serves no purpose outside of aesthetic also baffled me. Everyone also talks of SOUL in these games, and this town sticks out to me as one of the most soulful. I wish XY weren't so butchered because I believe there was a great game underneath a couple layers of misdesign. What if this took you to a new post game area? A couple more routes and a superboss

on that note, clearly just like XY had serious plot rewrites I think it is safe to assume SM did too. We already know the Trials were one of the last additions to the game - perhaps the Ultra Beasts and their human relationship were also changed last minute. Has Game Freak or the games ever commented on why they look similar?

The train system here, the subway stations in lumiose, the fact a random NPC mentions Blue visiting Kanto yet you never saw him, that one city you can find in victory road's background but doesn't match up geologically with any existing town XY isn't soulful cause they didn't finish the fucking game.

I wish Mystery Gift in the early games had more "codes" that you could use to get events. "LINK TOGETHER WITH ALL" is how you had to unlock it in FrLg which is cryptic as fuck. If only Mystery Gift used a system like Megaman Battle Network where you input codes to get items. We lose so many eventmons to time

damn, really? I've played XY like 4 times and I really think that while Game Freak is incompetent - there was clearly a vision with the plot that went unrealized. I believe that the ideas in that article are the closest we will get to ever knowing. Do you enjoy the main plot of XY?

the whole ultra beast is an absolutely majestic concept for the designer trying to make pokemon that doesn't feels like pokemon but still look awesome. They could've introduced new UB on SWSH via max lair or whatever it is since Eternatus also came from another space but they completely scrapped it. Hence they could've also introduced new UB on P:LA because it's obviously time space themed region and something like "Palkia messed up, they accidentally opened a space rift to another dimension/Arceus as pokemon god looked at UB as vile being and declared war on UB god, Ultra Necrozma" but we know that wouldn't ever happened
